Celebrating the lives and achievements of women from Dublin’s North Inner City
The Nollaig na mBan Festival in Dublin’s North Inner City has taken this day to a whole new level. Established by a group of local women from Ballybough, the North Strand and Clonliffe areas, and sponsored by Dublin City Council, NEIC, Inner City Trust and Local Safety Partnership the special day was designed to honour and celebrate local women. To date this festival has a record of attracting top class events, using local venues such as Charleville Mall Library, St. Columba’s Church, Clonliffe House, Cusack’s and Annesley House in North Strand and Ballybough.

Laura Williams
Laura Williams has been living in Dublin’s North Inner city for over 25 years. She has been organising events and pr since 1991. In recent years Laura has been the event creator and organiser of many local events including Culture Night at Sean McDermott St. Church, Ballybough & North Strand festival of history and many more. Laura founded the community initiative Ballybough Pride of Place, and served as its Chairperson until 2022. During this period, Laura led and managed over 150 local area clean-ups and numerous greening initiatives. She was responsible for the SEO and Digital Marketing strategy for the area, significantly boosting local engagement. For this extensive voluntary work, she received both the prestigious Digital Hero Award and a Lord Mayor of Dublin Award.

Muraed Hughes
Muraed Hughes is native of Mayo but living in Dublin for 26years. Muraed is a Family Celebrant, Massage Therapist, Radio Researcher, Presenter & Producer. Muraed hosts a weekly radio show in Irish ‘Ceol agus Craic’. Her show is dedicated to emerging Irish musicians, offering them a platform to share their talent with a wider audience. Through this radio program, Muraed champions the vibrancy of the Irish language, showcasing new voices in the music scene while encouraging the preservation and promotion of Ireland’s cultural heritage.

Paula T Nolan
Paula T. Nolan studied at the National College of Art and Design (NCAD) and built a career as a graphic designer, specialising in book design. Latterly she became an artist-photographer, exploring personal, environmental and archival themes. Her National Library of Ireland and Environmental Protection Agency Photographer-in-Residence project, ‘ReViewing Ireland’, won the ESB Creative Sustainability Award in the 2025 Business to Arts Awards. Paula lives in the North Strand and was instrumental in a successful campaign to restore strategic bus stops removed during the building of the cycle paths. Photo: John Murray Headshots.

This years festival was a huge success, with sold out events all accross the North Inner City.
Building on the growing success of the festival, next year promises an even more exciting program, with a diverse range of activities and events throughout the day. Dublin’s North Inner City will come alive with music, art exhibitions, interactive workshops, and engaging panel discussions, all centered around supporting and uplifting women. The event will feature renowned speakers and performers, empowering women through their stories of resilience and achievement.
Nollaig na mBan provides an excellent platform for networking, fostering community connections, and showcasing the incredible talents within the local area. It brings together neighbours, friends, and family to celebrate the invaluable contributions of women in our society.
