Multiple artists in venues across the North Inner City
Each year between 10-12 local women — unsung heroes — are chosen for their various contributions to the area, with large posters of the women hung outdoors and an award ceremony on the day.

The gathering of family and friends for this festival is heart-warming. The festival brings the entire community together under a united umbrella: to have well-deserved fun!

This year’s festival was a huge success with sold out events all across the North Inner City.

Nollaig na mBan, which translates to “Women’s Christmas,” is an ancient Irish tradition that pays homage to the vital role played by women in society. It is a day for women to relax and be pampered, traditionally celebrated by men assuming household responsibilities.
This vibrant celebration of local women, taking place on 6th January, aims to celebrate and empower women in the community, and put a spotlight on their contribution – a contribution that often disappears under the radar – all while having fun of course.
Building on the growing success of the festival, next year promises an even more exciting program, with a diverse range of activities and events throughout the day. The North Inner City will come alive with music, art exhibitions, interactive workshops, and engaging panel discussions, all centered around supporting and uplifting women. The event will feature renowned speakers and performers to inspire with their stories and talents.
Nollaig na mBan provides an excellent platform for networking, fostering community connections, and showcasing the incredible talents within the local area. It brings together neighbours, friends, and family to celebrate the invaluable contributions of women in our society.
We invite everyone to mark their calendars and join us in Dublin’s North Inner City on 6th January, where throughout the day and late into the night we celebrate all of our local women. Don’t miss out!
Thanks to Paula T Nolan for the stunning images on Dame Street featuring the 12 inspirational women of Ballybough, North Strand and Clonliffe in Dublin’s North East Inner City.
We can't wait for the 2026 festival
